Car owner was not the speeding driver

The defendant was charged with speeding, and with failure to complete a Section 172 Notice which required him to return details of who was the driver at the time of the speeding incident. He had not received the Section 172 Notice in the post, and was unaware of the speeding incident. The case went to trial at Carmarthen Magistrates Court on 27 May 2009, and after hearing all the evidence the defendant was acquitted..

Coracle drama on the River Towy

A coracle fisherman was arrested for obstruction of a Water Bailiff, and a Public Order matter after an incident on the River Towy. He denied the offences, calling another Water Bailiff as a defence witness, and was ultimately acquitted by Carmarthen Magistrates.

Cannabis farmers or burglars???

Police who arrested two defendants in a cannabis “factory” in the Ammanford area charged them with production of cannabis, but at the Llanelli Magistrates’ Court the prosecution offered no evidence on that charge and they pleaded guilty to burglary.

Raphael Gray internet “hacker” exposes Microsoft security weaknesses

Raphael Gray, known as Curador, was arrested by FBI agents at the age of 18 in March 2000 at the end of an FBI investigation into computer hacking. Curador had set up a website on which he had published some credit card numbers in order to draw attention to security weaknesses in computer software.
